You give boerboels a very low mark regarding the Boerboels prey drive. That is not accurate. Boerboels have various levels of prey drive from low to high. I wouldn't be confident buying a Boerboel puppy from you because I do not have confidence in your comments regarding Boerboels having low prey drive. Yes perhaps some are low prey drive. But there are also ones that have high prey drive. An b experienced breeder woul be able to give a buyer a good idea of what the temperament of a dog would be like based upon the parents behaviors and also based on the puppies. Good breeders can help a buyer find that dog in a litter who exhibits traits that typify a high prey dog. Giving a blanket rating of Boerboels having 2 paws (low prey drive) is not accurate.

I recently lost my friend (dog), someone poisoned him while I was working. I just don’t understand why he was a lovable, happy, playful animal. So loyal and proactive to the family, he was misunderstood by people due to his image/size but wouldn’t harm a fly. He was my 4yr olds bf, I recommend this breed to anyone.

As an owner of one I can say with confidence, that they are not for first time dog owners. They are stubborn and do not like to be challenged. They take a lot of patience but are amazing with kids if brought up around them and mine is great with other dogs.

My Boerboel was the best dog I ever had and I missed her everyday. Very little issues with her, she did lounged 3 time at people while on a walk in total. Nothing bad, but it did scared the people. When having such a big dog the importance of socializing can’t be under emphases. Such a smart dog, learned all of her basic trick in a 30 min period while she was around 4 months old. Great walker and not a big prey drive so squirrels and cat didn’t cause her to divert from out walk. That dog was my shadow even off leash. Very easy to housebreak. Something not many people mentioned but that is a big plus is that they have a relative “dry mouth”. I still recommend a small towel when going on long summertime walk, but as long as you don’t give it scrap food off your plate the inside of your house should be “relatively” safe. At 7 years old she was still quite a puppy temperament wanting to play fetch every occasion she would get.

Extremely easy to train, complete Velcro dog; will not leave your side no matter what. If for whatever reason you leave the house, when you return you will find him sitting at the very spot you left him. Absolutely you must show dominance over him, otherwise lookout he will run the show. Show train and socialize as often as you can when a pup and you will have a life long friend.

I'm on my 3rd one of the breed. They are very loyal and share lots of love!! They have fairly dry mouths for their size.. They are not a hyper or a dog that wants you to walk them every day. They would rather ride on the golf cart. They are not much for hunting or fetching either. The are amazing with children and stay on your property. They do need some room or a couple acres to roam. They have a long life expectancy and do not beg for attention.
