There is no more loyal and lovable breed than the Alaskan Malamute! They are superb with kids/other dogs. They are very social and need attention. I have spent my life with four mals, and they will sleep on your bed and have sweat run out their nose all night rather than sleep on the floor alone. This breed needs an "alpha" owner to get them to listen but they are very focused on pleasing their human companion. If your goal in adopting a canine is to gain a new best friend to share your life with, you will not find a better breed. This breed will not accept training for gurrd/attack dog service because they are non violet by nature. While the Siberian Husky does make a great hunting dog, the Mal will not. In my view the non-hunter aspect of this breed is it only downside, so I have always had one mal and one husky. Giving this breed 5 stars because there isnt an option to enter 6

Incredible companions. They’ll love and blend in with all family. We have been Mal parents for 25 years, wasn’t a dull day ever. Mischief makers for sure. They are the first up away form the fire when it’s bedtime. Indoors with built n dog door, excellent dogs wouldn’t change a thing.

Our alaskan malamute is very energetic and loves going on walks or going to the dog park. He is very cuddly and LOVES attention. He is almost 2 years old and is about 55kgs (121lbs) so he is a big dog. Overall he is a very beautiful dog and a brilliant listener, he was very easy to teach tricks to.

I found mine to be highly trainable with no prey drive beyond stomping ground moles through the sod. At 150 pounds he was the best house dog I've ever had. The only problem he had was he didn't understand elderly people were frail and would lean too hard on them to be petted.

Alaskan Malamutes are very loyal, lovable and just down right awesome dogs. They are high energy dogs who love to run around, play and DIG. I own two, a male and a female and they are both gentle giants! They are very smart and just want to please us and be loved. They are family(pack) dogs. Grooming has to be done a lot but it\'s well worth it.
