I had a Basset Jack who just passed away after 11-1/2 years of bliss in my life! That was the sweetest, most laid back, gentle, loving dog I've ever known. I am heart-broken over this loss--a part of my soul went with him! I would like to own another one, but it doesn't have to be a Basset Jack. Just a Basset mix is something I am looking for at this time. Do you have anything like that??

I have owned two mixed Bassett Dachshund dogs, we call the Bassweenies. We took in a rescue mix large dog 6 months after our family pooch passed. Unbeknownst to us she was deathly afraid of men. It took years to gain some of her confidence- I started looking in the classifieds at dogs about 6 month after we got Bella and saw an ad for BassWeenies, so I called. They had one female left, the runt, born on my birthday. When I got her picture it was a done deal. 15&1/2 years of joy and love. She passed in January and as a life- long dog owner, this was the hardest loss ever. I sent pictures to the seller on Carmen’s birthday in July and at Christmas every year to express my gratitude and good fortune to be her forever human. Three years later Carmen’s parent had two more accidental pups I learned and we scooped up the red runt, Ruby, immediately. She is 13 , our only dog and gets all our love. The temperament, personality and affection of this mix is amazing. I’m hoping I can find a pair of litter mates to fill the house and have Ruby mentor the pups. My daughter has a 1 year old set of mini’s that come to play, adorable but we love the 25 lbs mix. Ours were basically standard sized floppy eared Dachshunds with just enough Bassett to make them irresistible.

I have 2 basset/dachsunds or as we call the Bassweenies. They are 3 years apart, same parent - 12& 15 now. I’ve had dog most of my life, as child and adult. My previous dogs were mid to large; these two 23 pound muppets have forever changed my heart. I love their temperment and pretty much everything else about them. My oldest seem more Bassett like but looks like a Doxie with big ears; her sister is has more Doxie personality traits- both are amazing. I hope I can find a pair of “Bassweenies when the time comes.

I have a female mixed basset hound mixed airdale that i aqquired at a dog pound in marion ohio. She is about 35 pounds and around 4 years old. A wonderful and loving dog who is petted and loved by all the girl aids at the assisted living home where we live. If anything happened to her I would get another of the same mix. She is always paying attention to anything going on around my wife .
