Bernedoodle-Munchkin Dog Breed Information
Bio
The Munchkin Bernedoodle is a three-breed mix combining the Bernese Mountain Dog, Poodle, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The added Cavalier bloodline brings an extra layer of warmth and affection, along with a softer, sweeter expression, making these pups especially people-oriented and eager to be close to their families.
Size varies depending on the specific pairing, but since Cavaliers are naturally smaller, they’re most often matched with smaller Bernedoodles, resulting in adults typically in the 13-20 pound range. Like other Bernedoodles, they tend to be low-to-non-shedding thanks to the Poodle side, making them a great fit for families looking for an affectionate, allergy-friendly companion. Unlike common “micro” or “teacup” designer dogs that achieve smaller sizes by breeding in tiny toy poodles, the Munchkin deliberately introduces Cavalier genetics. This approach preserves the blocky bone structure, sweet rounded faces, and gentle teddy-bear aesthetic of a traditional large Bernedoodle in a highly compact, portable size
