I purchased a blue heeler and fox terrier mix in September 2019. He is 6 months now weighing at 31lbs. I had a fox terrier that turned 15 in 2019; due to health issues I had to put him down shortly after I got Shiloh. I knew nothing about the heeler breed and it’s been 15 years since having a puppy. Shiloh has made the puppy experience so easy; he is calm, smart, attentive, and easy to train. He’s not a working dog (herding cattle) but his energy has never been an issue. He loves playing tug-a-war and visiting the dog park. He was very shy at first, even towards me, but once he gets a good sense of his surroundings he opens up more. I haven’t tried off leash with him yet; when we are at the dog park I let him run. He always checks in with me to see if I’m ok while we are at the dog park. I have no problem getting him to listen or to follow me while he is around other dogs. Since Shiloh made me fall in love with the breed I really been considering getting a red heeler once Shiloh gets older.

The blue heeler is a very high energy dog. With propper training and exercise these dogs have the capability to learn anything you want to teach them. From the first day I picked mine up I started training simple comands such as sit, stay, paw, speak and gradually moved on to retrieving his collar and leash to eating on command and speak on command. He is great with other dogs but I do recomend bringing him around dogs from day one otherwise the acclimation and introduction to other dogs could be an aggresive one. They do need time each day to run around and get tired otherwise their energy will go to eating things around the house and getting into trouble. I would highly recomend this dog to anyone who is ready for an active dog especially a family with kids as it would be a great addition to the family.

I owned a blue heeler pittbull mix and I loved every second. Energetic loyalty to the fullest extent and smarter than most humans. Her name was karma who lived 7.5 years. She loved frisbee running cuddling tug tracking swimming and eating also stuffing in any thing lol. She died of cancer was put down 11-16-18 I suggest all people own one so they get life changing experience as they show u true meaning to happiness and joy of life
