Welcome to Arrowhead Ranch KC Maremma Sheepdog Breeding Program

Our breeding program, led by Mary, is committed to maintaining the highest standards. We are proud to have passed the Good Dog’s Screening process, which rigorously evaluates breeding practices, the environment, and the mental and physical health of our dogs. This thorough review ensures that we provide a nurturing and responsible setting for all our animals.

Our program would be nothing without our exceptional female Maremma Sheepdog, Pearl. She was carefully selected for her exemplary traits, Pearl embodies the finest qualities of her breed, She comes from a working bloodline boasting an impressively low coefficient of inbreeding (COI). Confident, inquisitive, and dedicated, Pearl’s leadership and presence in the pasture makes us sleep good at night. Pearl is serious about her role and often positions herself at the highest vantage point on the ranch, vigilantly scanning for predators like coyotes and foxes. She knows the routines of our sheep, cows, and chickens, constantly monitoring the fence line and the airspace above our ranch. Her natural instincts shine through when she hears the call of a coyote. With unwavering dedication, she rushes to the nearest boundary, ready to protect our ranch. Pearl’s courage and commitment are a testament to the Maremma breed’s heritage and purpose. Smart, loyal, and protective, she leads the livestock guardian responsibilities at Arrowhead Ranch.

Chief, our confident and always present male Maremma Sheepdog was also arefully selected for his exemplary traits, Chief embodies the finest qualities of his breed. He is confident, inquisitive, and dedicated, with a presence that lets you know he’s on duty and attentive. Every morning, Chief greets me in the fields with a raised paw, a smile, and eye contact that touches my soul. His genuine connection and bond with the animals is evident as he checks in with each group of sheep, cows, and chickens, making sure everyone is safe and accounted for.

Chief’s natural instincts shine through when he and Pearl work together to chase the coyotes off of our property. They both eagerly run to the edge of the fields making their presence known to any would-be predator.
