My fiancee and I started out trying to adopt a puppy from a rescue organization/shelter back in December. We filled out numerous multi-page adoption forms which asked for a lot of detailed, personal information, agreed to pay their high 'adoption' fees, and were even willing to drive 4-6 hrs to pick up a puppy. Several of these 'humane' organizations never even responded to our inquiries, and the ones that did respond wouldn't adopt out of state because it wasn't convenient for them to do their self-imposed, required 'home visit'. So, all the shelter dogs remained in their shelters and foster homes, and we gave up. For a while. We discovered our pup on Greenfield Puppies on Jan 27, called the breeder the same day, and picked up our little one on Jan 29 for a very reasonable price, and absolutely no hassle. Toozie is exactly what we were looking for, and we couldn't be happier with our new addition! (We did change her name from 'Jemima', but she seems to like 'Toozie'.)
