As someone with experience with all types of breeds and mixes, from chihuahuas to great danes, i can honestly say i will never look for another breed! Giant Schnauzers are everything i ever wanted in a dog. Very loving and affectionate with the family, yet protective without being out of control aggressive. These dogs are extremely smart and need someone who wont be afraid to take charge because they will 100 percent try pushing their limits during adolescence. Dont forget they are a working breed and need a job that will challenge them physically and mentally. Energy level is perfect for an active household, without being neurotic and hyperactive like alot of the herding breeds. Even as a pup, they tend to be more serious and mature, making it easier to start them young with training. With how stubborn and pushy they can be, i definitely wouldn't recommend them for a first time dog owner, this is a large breed with a strong personality; i would hate to see my favorite breed ruined because someone didnt understand how much work needs to be put into these dogs.

my husband and I have had 3 giant schnauzer our last one died in 2012 . love the breed. i really miss my giants. and i am ready to have one join my family
