I got a golden shepherd from Greenfield in 2014, he is 10 now and doing great. He is a fantastic family dog, and insists on playing fetch at all times. I have 3 other dogs and 2 cats and he gets along great with all. He leveled out at around 85 lbs, so far he does not have any hip issues and is in good health. He sheds a lot and needs daily brushing in the summer and needs a fair amount of exercise. Golden shepherds are a great breed for an all around family pet. If I could attach a pic I would.

Our Golden Shepherd, Comet, was a wonderful family companion, great with our kids and our border collie. High prey drive, and knew his own mind, but 70 pounds of devotion. These dogs need company, need to be with you, and are smart, quick to learn. Small animals (squirrels, cats, racoons) will not be safe. If the dog is going to play in a fenced yard, the fence needs to be six feet tall. They're protective by nature and need socialization. If hubby and I were not in our senior years, we would be in the market for another one.

My golden shepherd, Bacon Pancakes, is so wonderful. He's very kind and affectionate. He's got the goofiness of both breeds and is scared of his own shadow- and brooms. But he is fiercely defensive if he senses danger from a person. He's shy around new people outside the home but inside he loves to welcome visitors. He only barks when he gets excited about squirrels and while he chases them, I don't think he'd know what to do with them if he caught one.His very best friends are our cats. he was 6 months old when we got him, so he was raised with them. He likes to try and herd them around the house and when they stop running he stops. Sometimes he mouths them, but other than soaking them in dog drool they are completely unharmed. They sleep with him and rub against him and they trust him.Speaking of drool. He is a very drooly dog. He's no mastiff, but we had to keep a handkerchief on him for the first year just to whip the drool off any time he saw people eating.He's ridiculously smart, handsome, and just the best dog ever!

We have had 3 dogs during 52 years. 1. Was a German Shepherd cross Labrador, which lived 16 years. 2. We had a Doberman which also lived to around 15. 3. We rehomed a Bull Terrier cross Staffy. We were not sure of his age when we got him, but unfortunately we had to have him put down at our Vet because he developed an inoperable tumour on his head.

This is one of my favorite mixed breeds. My 9 year old Golden Shepherd mix recently passed away and I miss him so much. He had more of a Golden Retriever temperament, but he would also guard and alert like a German Shepherd. He followed me everywhere, was a quick learner and loved children and other animals. We have ducks on our farm and he never once was aggressive towards them. It's as if he knew they were mine. I felt good about him being out in the yard with them when they were free ranging. I also adopted his sister, and she takes more after the German Shepherd. She's a sweetheart, quick learner and eager to please. Loves to be petted. But she is more leary of people and tends to guard and bark more than her brother did. When I would take them both on a walk on the bike trail, she would bark at passersby and not want anything to do with them, but he would wag his tail and want to them to pet him. He was so friendly with everyone. This is a mixed breed that I will definitely own again.

We adopted our Golden Shapherd, Fozzie, when he was about a year and a half, and he was the best dog that I've ever owned. He was super intelligent, alert, inquisitive and easily trained, yet compassionate, well behaved and friendly around our young daughter, our two cats, and other dogs. One of the best things that I loved about him was that whenever we would be around other dogs that would be acting up, at dog park, in the neighborhood or visiting family/friends, he'd just look at me like "What's going on with them?" Fozzie never chewed up any shoes, got overly excited about thunder, barked excessively, or showed many of the other annoying traits that you often hear regarding other in-house living dogs. He did have some health issues and eventually died of cancer when he was about 11, but he was stoic until the end. I definitely would be interested in seeing if I can capture lighting in a bottle for a second time.

We have a 5 month old Golden Shepherd puppy. She is the sweetest, smartest pup that we have ever had. We have had Rottweilers, Bassett Hounds and labs previously. Chili has many qualities of both breeds. She is silly and loving...loves water and fetching like a Retriever and also protective and and a guardian like a GSD. The best of both breeds!

We had one as a family dog. He was the best dog I ever had. I currently have one trained to be my service dog. She is so smart! If I had time, I could teach her math. She pulls my wheelchair, helps me pick things up. She is serious like a shepherd when she works, but she is a goofy golden at home. Our first dog was 70 pounds. He looked like a golden with a black swash down his back. My service dog looks all black. She was the runt of 17 puppies! She never quite gets to 50 pounds. Her father was a purebred golden that only weighed 60 pounds. She has the OCD, but it is easily treated with $4/month Prozac, and good training.

We adopted Quinn as a 9 week pup in October of 2005 and got his mother from the same rescue in April of 2006. Quinn died in February of 2015 of multiple cancers. He was his loving, beautiful, gentle self until his last breath. His mom Kayla is now 12-13 years old. A bit stiff in the rear legs but still a loving sweet girl. I would get another dog of this mix in a heartbeat.

We purchased Hartley in March, he was 12 weeks old. He was housebroken within two days. He is very smart, lovable, and healthy. He is 7 months old now and is already 70 pounds. Doctor said still has a lot of growing to do. He loves to swim, play, and go for rides. My only regret is we didn\'t get two. He is a joy and we love him.
