Watching the ball drop every year, in person or in the comfort of your own living room, is a treasured tradition. So are New Year’s resolutions! Even if you don’t always keep them, New Year’s resolutions can still be fun. Our pups don’t get to make their own resolutions, so why not give them a voice this year? Here are some ideas of how to improve life for your dog this coming year!
Spice Up the Menu
Not literally, of course! Adding some variety to your dog’s diet can be welcome, especially when most of our pups eat a similar diet year-round. Cooking up something special, even if it’s just once per week, will make your dog ecstatic. In addition, depending on the food, it may also help him lead a healthier lifestyle.
There are a number of dog-friendly recipes available, so why not check them out and give some a try? Your dog will thank you, in his own tail-wagging way.
Get Outside More
Our lives can get busy quick, often pushing things like daily walks to the wayside. This year, make an effort to stick to your walking schedule. Not only will your dog enjoy the quality time, but the exercise will benefit you both! Also, daily walks can help reduce stress and anxiety in your pup.
If you don’t have time for long walks, try getting out for even 5-10 minutes a few times each day. New Year’s resolutions are about forming new, positive habits; they don’t have to be difficult! Even short walks can clear your mind, and enhance your pup’s day.
Meet New Dogs
Pups love your company, don’t get us wrong, but they also love the company of other dogs. Try taking him out for play dates with other pups to socialize. Join some group walks, visit the dog park, or take him to your local pet store to get a good sniff or two. Having more interactions with other dogs will relieve his anxiety about meeting them on your new daily walk routine, as well.
Ring in the New Year
This year, give your pup something to wag his tail about with some New Year’s resolutions. Building up new, healthy habits goes a long way to improving his quality of life – and yours.
