I have a 3.5 yr old Female Maremma named Star she is beyond inteligent and she is very alert and her hearing is phenomenal! She has a mind of her own, but respects me as pack leader. Star is very calm around people and she will approach you on her terms only and cannot be rushed . She is very sweet, but can be beyond fierce, because her breed are cosidered to be the bouncers of the animal kigdom. I think Maremma owners just need patients with them.

My dog is extremely loyal and loves adventure. I would reccomend a meramma for people who love the outdoors and want a guard dog. She is mellow half the time and crazy the rest. The only negative is she is very stubborn.

We rescued a 5 year old female from a family( wife got cancer ), first few months she was a great house dog, then she got separation anxiety, we worked through that, everything was great with her then. She then developed bone cancer. We only had her for a year and a half but she was a very lovable and great dog. Would get another maremma if we decide to got another, putting dogs down is getting harder and harder.

My Maremma just died at age 12 yrs old and he was the BEST dog in the world. He was a LGD for 11 years and lived with my/his alpacas for 11 years and was a retired housemate for another year and a half until he passed. Most majestic dog (he was my 'lion dog' with his huge ruff and broad shoulders), seemingly ferocious yet so lovey dovey with me, my son and anyone else with my ok. He (and the breed) was so smart and independent - he always knew how to prioritize and took his job seriously and it is so important for his person to understand that independence.
