5/5 the best dog I've ever owned. He's incredibly sensitive, yet protective and loyal towards the family. He loves water and playing around. When his doggy friends come over he can run around the yard for hours, but he also can spend a week just relaxing around the house and being a couch potato. He regularly gets exercise on our 5 acres and he weighs about 120 lbs. He still has a ton of energy at 8 years old!

I am 3 Ridgebacks in, two since they were 8 weeks and one I rescued.. all female. BEST DOGS EVER!!! They grow up in a year, easily trainable, love kids and cats.. can live in an apartment with a long walk a few times a week, are affectionate, exceptionally smart and sweet, they do shed but with weekly brushing that is reduced, they love their food and will work u for a treat several times a day so u have to be selective about how many you allow them to have , Two of them have both had very lite stomachs so they need a treat later in the evening and need to eat early in the morning.. not good to let their stomach be empty for a long period of time.. awesome for people who are runners.. they can run for miles hot or cold conditions there is no issue they LOVE to run.. my first was extremely healthy until about 11 then she got laryngeal paralysis which eventually was the reason we lost her.. my second has had a multitude of issues thru out her life and she is 11. But NOTHING, absolutely nothing would keep me from getting another.. I love them!!!

I have had 5 ridgebacks and they have so much love and loyalty to give. Very family friendly and trainable in my experience. They sense your emotion very well. If you are uneasy about a person, they will protect you against that person with their life.
