I have only owned St.Bernards my whole life. From 15-42. I love my Saints. They are loyal. They care patient. My current St Bernard is D'Artagnian,(Dodge) for short. He is my best friend. He follows me from room to room even waits outside the bathroom. He is 6 years old. He is starting to show his age from time to time which breaks my heart. My last St. Bernard lived 13 years. I'm hoping that Dodge last that long. My sons love him except the drool and when it goes flying through the air. I tell them its part of who he is. I'm thankful its not all the time. He is kind and gentle. He is also very very protective of me. My son who is autistic tends to start yelling or scream talking. Dodge will actually get up and try to either stand between us because my son is bigger than me or he will start rubbing up against my son to calm him or get his attention. He has even been a good therapy dog for my son. They are amazing breed and I have been very lucky with every beautiful St. Bernard I have owned. I want to find a puppy now to raise with Dodge. I did this with him as a puppy and it worked out perfect. If you don't mind drool, then this is a perfect family dog or a single person dog!

Our Saint "Yogi" is the biggest sweetheart in the world!! He's our 190lb baby!! Yogi is a long haired vs our Bear who was a short haired dry mouth. We adore him & all Saints. They all have unique personalities.

We had a dry-mouth St. Bernard. Dutchess was her name. She was the most loveable dog. I am looking for another one now as she has passed. They are great with kids and love everyone.

Marvelous dogs if you like [and understand] giant breeds. Good with children and little dogs; not so good with other big dogs. Not big on exercise. Big on love. Clumsy. So what. I want another one!

I owned a St. Bernard for 6 short years. He was a lovely and most friendly and patient dog. He was sooooo good with my grandchildren. My one granddaughter would fall asleep on him when he would lay on the floor. Sadly we lost him to cancer much too soon. He was the typical St. Bernard, always happy and loving,

The Saint Bernard is a member of the Mastiff family. Gentle, loyal, and loving, this giant pooch makes a great family pet. In the 1700’s, located between Switzerland and Italy, Great St. Bernard Hospice realized this breeds talent. A refuge for travelers, the Hospice learned that these dogs were great for avalanche search and rescue. They have a great sense of smell, able to sense avalanches and even locate people 20 feet under the snow. They have been responsible for the rescue of over 2000 people. The Saint Bernard is best in a colder environment due to their thick coat. They require a moderate amount of grooming due to shedding and drooling. Only shampoo when necessary, using a mild shampoo so their coat does not get stripped of its oils. The American Kennel Club recognized the Saint Bernard in 1885. Here is a fun fact, the film “Beethoven’s 2nd” used over 100 puppy actors for the four puppy roles due to how quickly they grow!
