Shiba Inu Breed Review by Greighton

I love my Shiba. I got it when he was two months old. It has been an excellent experience seeing him grow and slowly build a bond with me. It requires a lot of patience to have them around because he had got on my nerves five times since I got it, but still, I love him so much that I don't want him to die, even if it sounds stupid. It has all these things that make him look like a dog and a cat simultaneously. He loves attention and gets sad when he doesn't get it. He is obsessed with hands and feet like a nuclear energy bomb. It is very active, strong, and solid for its size. He is afraid of loud noises but seems not to get scared from a 🐻 bear. In summary, I won't have any other breed in my lifetime. Maybe a German Shepherd and a Labrador.

The Sheba Inu puppy is a challenge for sure. Watching him grow into a happy and self confident adolescent is worth the time.

Difficult to train at first and fairly independent throughout their lives, but overall one of the most loving and fiercely loving dog breeds out there. Recommended for owners with previous dog ownership experience due to the above-listed points.

Absolutely love my Shiba! She's 18 weeks and has learned to sit, stay, lie down, leave it and come! She's very food driven, and her nails are clear due to her white feet making for easy nail trims. She's energetic as well as loving. Her favorite things are to chew empty water bottles, ice cubes, and receive scratches all along her neck and shoulders. She is crate trained but loves to sleep in her bed in there every night and goes in whenever she needs a little nap. She's very good with all people, but is still going through the nipping phase of her puppyhood when she gets too excited. As for dogs, she is great with all dogs except those that are VERY small, which I attributed to her "hunting" drive that these dogs were bred for. I adore my Shiba Inu for her exuberance in life, constant interest in learning new things, ability to be independent, socialization skills, and her boundless love for us!

My Shiba Inu is the easiest dog I've ever trained. She's only 6 months old and I taught her to sit, give paw, and lay down in 2 days. Best dog I've ever had.

I have had the opportunity to have Shiba Inus in my family for the past 35 years. Once you have the experience of being with a Shiba, you will see no other breed, only Shiba Inu. My most recent Shiba-family member lived to be 18 years of age. Plan for a long, fulfilling life journey with your furry family member. They are intelligent, aloof (to those that deserve it), intuitive, protective, charming, and selectively affectionate.

The Shiba Inu is honestly one of the best dogs you can possibly have. Yes, they are very stubborn and can be a big challenge when they're puppies, but if you're patient it pays off. They are very smart and independent but also love to receive love and attention. They are very playful but are also okay with just laying down and relaxing. They are very loyal and obedient (even when they're stubborn). They don't really bark but they do make a variety of noises that are adorable. They're also very funny, even when they are "serious" and it's hard not to laugh at their facial expressions. The doge meme is a perfect summed up example of a Shiba's personality. Overall, I think the Shiba Inu is a great breed, you just have to be patient at first and know how to train them well!

The Shiba Inu is by far the most unique dog breed around. Never even heard of this breed until my son wanted one. Now I can not live without them. They do what they want when they want and they keep you busy but are so well worth it. I dont think i will ever get any other kind of dog again. Coming home every day to a dog who acts like they haven't seen you in a year is the best part of my day and just totally warms my heart.

Shiba Inu Breed Review by Lori Helms

We got our Shiba as a puppy 7 1/2 years ago. He was a bundle of energy the first 4 years. He has since calmed quite a bit but has remained very independent and head strong. He was very easily trainable but will only follow commands when he wants. He is very loyal and protective of me to the point where he jumps at my husband when he gets too close. If shedding is a problem for you, a Shiba is not your dog. Twice a year he blows his coat over a 2-3 week period. Even with de-shedding him every day he wakes up with tufts of fur sticking out and our vacuum is constantly full. The one thing that I wish we could break him of is his fascination with feet. He constantly stares at people's feet and lunges when they walk away. We love Jacoby

This breed is gorgeous, but owner must have the patience to train any Shiba or else it will run the house.

We have had our Shiba for almost 12 years now. I prefer male Shiba Inus over female due to temperment. Our Shiba has been a stubborn and joyful companion to myself, husband and 2 boys, extended family and neighbors. He is a lovely addition to our family. I do caution, unless you can't be flexible and take the time to train your Shiba, you should not get one as they can be quite stubborn - ours failed obedience training, but we wouldn't have any other dog! We LOVE our Shiba!!

The shiba is not only a gorgeous physical canine specimen, but one of the most loyal, loving, and interactive breed of dogs I have ever lived with. Clean, agile and oh-so amusing, this breed can be a wonderful pet--but must have obedience training and stay on leash all the time!

I have had a shiba inu since he was 6 months old. Rescued him from a shelter. He has been the best dog I have ever owned. Very very intelligent. They do need a bit of excercise but I\'ve noticed they love the mental exercise as well. So loving and so good with kids. We had him trained in days to use the outside for the potty. And we use a furminator on him gets his fluffy coat down so he\'s not so hot in the summer

In Japanese, Shiba Inu means “brushwood dog”, named after the colors of the areas where this breed was used to hunt small game, boar, and bears. Declared a national treasure in 1936, the Shiba Inu is the smallest native breed to Japan. They are good at many tasks including hunting, tracking, guarding, and even performing tricks. Their thick double coat repels dirt and comes in black and tan, red, and red sesame. They have triangular fox-like ears and an arched tail with a plume. This pup is a bit more difficult to train due to their independent and reserved nature. They are great for an experienced dog owner and are very loyal once their relationship is built. The Shiba Inu was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1992.
