When we discovered little Flash, we knew he was the right pup for us just from his picture. I've been searching for a Shih Tzu puppy for years and he immediately stood out to me. Next thing I knew we were taking him home with us. He is calm and loving, sweet boy hasn't barked at all! Definitely has the chill Shih Tzu flow down to the tea. Im quite calm myself and not the most active so I was looking for a puppy to match my energy. He still gets all of his required exercise and can become quite playful. He is a quick learner (already doing amazing in potty training) & learning basic tricks like sit and roll over. Flash is the smartest pup, which I find he inherits from his breed, whenever he needs something like to go potty or drink water he will make it known to us. HE also loves laying down near me, particularly my feet, I think I heard they protected emperors back when they were palace dogs. Well my Flash makes us feel like royalty for sure, more than we could've ever asked for! Get yourself a Shih Tzu. They're cute, loving, and easy going, great overall (especially for first time dog owners.)

I have a 8 years old Shih Tzu boy named Butterscotch. His color is exactly like a butterscotch candy. He is super sweet and adorable. Very friendly to people, not too close to other pets. He understands what we told him to do, but a little disobedience sometimes. He has very sensitive digestive system and is not a good eater, so I cook for him daily. He is not shedding but needs grooming every couple of months. Well worth all the work and love because he repays more than what we give.

i have 2 shih tzus. most amazing dogs. very energetic and curious when they are little. as they get older they lose the energy and will snuggle with you all day long. very kid friendly, never get mean or bite. not hard to train! they also don’t need a lot of matinence with their fur. it depends what kind of haircuts they get. no shedding and adorable 100% recommend these dogs

This is the most wonderful breed of dog I currently have to a male and a female they get along wonderfully together. I have had six of these in my lifetime. They are sweet kind compassionate they love to be around people and other animals and they are just the best dogs I would never have another kind of dog. They do need haircuts and they do need some small increments of brushing but they are fantastic dogs!

I believe they are the best dogs to own if you want a small dog. My dog was very intelligent, easy to train and very lovable. At times I had to remind her that I was the Queen of the house and she was the Princess, she was very stubborn at times but will make you laugh 5 minutes later with her facial expressions. When I'm ready for another dog I will definitely get another Shih Tzu.

I have had 3 of this breed One to live to 15, one to live to 12 and I currently have a Shih Tzu … They are the best, smartest and friendliest breed that I could have chosen... Mild tempered... Hardly ever barks unless a really good reason... Easy to house train.. Does not shed, loves to play ball, loves kids, camps and travels well. I would, however, recommend having your dog spaded if not breeding as my other 2 were not and developed breast cancer... I absolutely love this breed and every one was my family...

I had Shih-Tzu puppies for over 30 years I bought my first one and fell in love with the breed they are so sweet and lovable ,no shedding , great with children and a wonderful family pet mine were family and when I lost my last one five years ago I was inconsolable for a while and this last year I am finding I want to get another puppy or young Shih-Tzu again to love and take for walks and just to love . I miss the companionship I had with my babies . I have been looking online and newspaper for several months now and not much luck. If you can let me know of any in Maryland ,DC or Va. I live in Maryland. I am in remission now from cancer and know I can take care of a puppy now .that was the reason so long not getting another puppy but God is good and I am in remission.

Where to start. This breed is the most lovable, playful, quite friend around. They mingle with other dogs and cats, and love to have a nice lap to sit in and be petted. The enjoy taking walks, but does not have to be an extremely long walk. They mix with kid very well. I have had four in my life time and they were all very loving towards my daughter, and guests that visited. To me the best family companion in the world.

Shih tau are very hard to train but they can be very loyal. They will lay on your feet because they are know to warm up your feet. My 3 year old Shih Tzu Chocolate is amazing. I love him so much. I really love Shih Tzu\'s are amazing.
