Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Breed Review by Bill McQueeney

We had our beloved Duffy from 2004 until 2018 and I have never had a better companion until the last 2 months of his life when he developed dementia. I have owned 9 dogs in my life and none but one gave me the love that Duffy gave me. The other was Clancy was an Irish Wolfhound who only live 8 years.

I would love to have a soft costed Wheaton terrier. I had 2 and today last one past away at 14.5 years. Not expecting so pain, and in my plans was to bring another one before he die… anyway

My Duke was best companion, protector of the grandchildren. And he just took on that role on his own. Saved Alyssa, the youngest child of the four. If it wasn't for Duke she may gave drowned. When ever someone came by he felt it was to see him. Very social in 14 years there were only three people he did like. I lost him March 1st of this year to congenital heart failure. I would recommend wheaten terrier to anyone looking for a rewarding companion that the whole family will love. If there was a place to attach a picture I would

An absolute perfect breed in our opinion. Does not bark unless it is extremely important, lovable, very smart, hyper allergenic because he has hair and not for. We loved our soft coated Wheaton so much we’re going to be purchasing another one, no other breed will do for us! They do jump to see you when excited, also known as the Wheaton greetin, they never seem to give that up lol

A few months ago we found out about greenfield puppies. Let’s me tell you when we found green field puppies it was the best day of my life! We got my little 5 month old soft coated wheaten terrier off of green field puppies. We got in contact with the breeder we paid $400 deposit and paid the rest once we got her. It was a little weird though because we had to pick her up at a Home Depot. Once we got there we saw our little puppy and i could not believe that this is now our dog!

Our dog, Desmond, was the worlds best dog. Great with kids and most other dogs, loved nothing better than doing anything with us. Active, gentle, affectionate, observant, happy. Nothing better than a Wheaten greeting.

Absolutely best dog I have ever owned. I had my sweet wheaten Dakota for 10 years. I got her when I was 9 and she was so perfect. She was so obedient, smart, loving, and much more. She had skin allergies and a few food allergies but it would never stop me from recommending a Wheaten to someone. She didn't really love playing with any toys but she loved bones and going for walks. She was great with kids but just got overly excited and would scare some but she would never hurt a fly. She definitely had a terrier instinct and would bark and go after rabbits and small animals. She didn't ever bark unless she saw an animal and she would howl, not even bark. She was extremely smart and adapted so well to our household it was almost like she was given to us for a reason. She loved going down the shore but absolutely hated the water. She was literally the best dog I have ever met in my entire life and I have heard that from many people who have met her. If I could give her a million star rating I would.

I am very interested in a puppy. I live in Syracuse NY, a female soft coated Wheaten Terrier is a puppy I have always adored. I am waiting for student loan and hopefully choosing a female very soon...I noticed Hannah....she looks like a lot of fun! I am outdoors four days a week and would love a companion to go to all the places I go...rollerblading, to the park, swimming and walks. I might even breed my puppy once so she experiences mommy hood but will spay afterward. I am mostly interested in the blonde coat....so please stay in touch.

Love them so much. Had two of them. I would love two again. One for me and one for my grandson. Small ones. If miniature it would be perfect.

Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Breed Review by RS

We had our girl for about 10 years till about two weeks ago, she got an infection that was in most of her organs. We Loved her so deeply, our girl was such a smart and good dog, we took her to the pet hospital and tried to get her to recovery, but the doctors could not bring her around. This girl was such a loving part of our life, everyone that saw her fell in love with her. We can't believe she got so sick, she didn't show signs of being sick at first, she must of had this sickness for some time that we had no idea how she was feeling. This girl "Miss Molly" brought us so much happiness to our family, I can't tell you how special this girl was, she loved to run, the fastest dog I ever saw. Miss Molly was a great companion, she loved to travel, and could be very protective. Miss molly loved to go for walks, she was the best all around dog. I would buy another one if I didn't have so many vet bills to pay. God Bless you Miss Molly. You are Greatly missed!

I have had many different dogs over my 70 years but the Wheaton has been the best of the lot. My Sheba passed at 15 yrs. old. I doubt that she is replaceable. Training her was a snap they are so smart. Even thou I have been told they are not good with cats, she was fine with my cat. The worst thing I can say about the bred is that if you do not want to have them with you all the time, it is not for you. They are a family dog and will not be put aside in a different room or area. They need to be with their family.

Greenfield Puppies

The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is named after its silky, soft coat. Their wheaten color is a darker brown shade as puppies and gets lighter until they are about 2 years old. Originating in Ireland, this breed was brought to the United States in 1946. This pup has many skills, often used as a farm dog, herding, hunting, and patrolling the land. They make a great watch dog and will alert you when someone is at the door. Playful and outgoing, this high energy dog needs daily exercise. It is good to train proper behavior at an early age, especially if you have other pets. Firm and consistent training is best. Do not allow them to jump on humans because it is how they show their dominance. As for grooming, comb them regularly. Avoid brushing because it will make their coat fuzzy. The Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1973.
